I have exactly the same problem on two of my customer Probooks, the G6 models. Please help! I am having the exact same issue. This is a brand new computer as of December No liquids spilled. Audio drivers up to date. My f5 and f8 buttons randomly mute me while I am on Zoom and Skype calls. When I unmute it will re-mute, sometimes within seconds, other times within minutes.

I am also having problems with my microphone jack. It refuses to play out of my headphones when plugged in. That laptop has many different options and as Priscilla HP states you need to provide more details:.

If none of the actions suggested above did not work including updating the BIOS then I would try a Live Linux Distro to see if the issue was hardware or not. If it is hardware then the issue will be the same with Linux.

There is no need to install Linux to the hard drive to try it. I'm having the exact same issue. This is a brand new computer, 2 weeks old. Thanks everyone, for your responses - especially to BLC61 for the detailed solution above, from real-life experience. My colleague worked on this with Zoom and here is the information that he has provided to our coworkers.

To avoid terrible echo, your microphone is muting itself, if you are not manually doing so. I'd recommend lowering the volume [of your speakers] or using a headset to avoid that.

Was finally able to fix it by updating Windows to newest version and installing this audio driver from hp's website. I did also implement the above fix, so it's possible it helped too. ProBook G6's here I had users start complaining about a week ago, when Teams call use ramped up for those users.

I expect it was happening all along, but those users were on shorter, less frequent video calls. That setting seems to have helped most users but it came back for others , so I think that the hardware acceleration also causes or exacerbates the random muting behavior. Hello shall3, thank you for the information you share--" I will ping you for additional information. Have a good week. I will report if it comes back after I instructed a proper restart they normally shut the laptop lid to trigger shutdown, and reopening triggers startup , as Fast Startup is enabled on those laptops, and I imagine that restarts only happen when prompted due to updates.

Of the few that we've unpackaged, most of them have had issues where the microphone intermittently stops working properly, not just for Skype and Zoom, but for Microsoft Voice Recorder as well. It still picks up some sound, but you have to be against the microphone and the output is just white noise. Unfortunately, the fix has not corrected the problem. Laptop is currently on Windows 10 ver. This topic has been locked by an administrator and is no longer open for commenting. To continue this discussion, please ask a new question.
